Rosebud CBD, Meet the Maker

Rosebud CBD

Alexis Rosenbaum

After turning 29-years-old, Alexis Rosenbaum, a self-proclaimed “Cannapraneur,” experienced something truly life-changing. She tried using full flower cannabis for the first time, and not long after, was inspired to start her very own CBD company.

But before that all came to fruition, Alexis was in a relatively stressful full-time position managing marketing strategies. She had just sold her former company and moved her family from the East Coast to Ohio, her husband having recently retired from playing pro-baseball.

“I wasn’t comfortable using full flower cannabis during the work day mostly because I didn’t have any way to micro-dose and wasn’t satisfied with being stoned or high on the job,” she tells Remedy Review. “It only increased my anxiety and paranoia.” Alexis yearned for simple, holistic remedies that would get her feeling back to feeling like her old self, and allow her to perform her best on-the-job.

“I had set on a personal journey to find an all-natural alternative to manage daily anxiety,” she says. “A few friends had mentioned CBD oil, and after months of searching for a quality brand that spoke to me, I came up empty-handed. During this same time, my husband and I were embarking on a fertility journey that would require me to stop the use of full flower cannabis. CBD was hugely impactful in managing a comfortable mind and body during these high-stress times.”

Alexis began actively looking for a legally compliant, full-spectrum CBD product free of solvents, pesticides, and other additives, but had trouble finding a product that met all of these expectations. By the end of 2017, she left her full-time job in marketing, and in April 2018, went on to found Rosebud CBD, which uses flowering hemp grown in the Oregon sun.  The company produces high-quality CBD oil, available in 350, 700, and 1000 mg potencies. Each batch is lab-tested and organic, free of pesticides, herbicides, and solvents.

“Our U.S. farm grows a few acres of mixed strains,” Alexis tells us. “It is a CO2 extraction and is third-party lab tested. Our oil is comprised of CBD and MCT, which is a necessary fat that binds to the CBD and helps your body effectively and quickly digest the CBD.”

Rosebud’s mission is to offer their customers high-quality, American-grown cannabis-based products that will help them improve their overall well-being.  Alexis explains that their main target audience is women, with a primary focus on women’s health issues in particular.

“I see Rosebud having three possible target markets divided by age: 25-35 years, 35-50, and 50 and older,” she says. “We really wanted to bring to market a brand that was clean, pure, simple, and versatile. We carried these values both into our branding, packaging, voice, and ingredients. Women are told they need 100 different types of lotions to heal their skin issues or fight anti-aging. What if it was possible to provide one product that could be used for a number of issues? Simplifying my life has been a focus for the last few years and I wanted to provide a product that fell in line with this mission.”

“While the stoner culture is fun and creative,” she adds, “not everyone identifies. More brands like Rosebud are coming to market and it’s only going to positively impact the industry as well as reach more people.”

As Rosebud works hard to refine their brand and product line, they also hope to do away with common misconceptions surrounding both cannabis and hemp. For instance, unlike marijuana, which contains both CBD and the psychoactive compound THC, industrial hemp contains no more than 0.3% THC and is rich in CBD, a chemical compound which does not produce the euphoric high that cannabis has become known for. And while hemp can be used for a variety of purposes, including clothing and textiles, construction, automobile parts, medicine, food, and plastic, marijuana is primarily used for medicinal or recreational purposes.

“This is the same plant with slightly different chemical make-up. We don’t talk about human beings as being different species, but we each have our own DNA. There are a lot of similarities between man and woman, but distinct differences.”

One reason the two plants are so closely linked in the public imagination is due to the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, which was signed into law by Richard Nixon during his “War on Drugs.” The criminalization of marijuana also led to the criminalization of hemp, which in turn led to the demise of the industrial hemp industry.

Rosebud CBD is one company that hopes to reinvigorate the industry once more. Instead of simply “adding CBD to everything,” Alexis stresses that her company’s overall goal is to improve their product line, customer experience, brand partnerships, and current and future collaborations. Providing a solid educational foundation on CBD to their target audience and the general public at large is just as essential.

“It has been life changing seeing the impact cannabis, specifically CBD, has on other people’s lives,” Alexis says. “I knew how badly I needed it, but I wasn’t entirely aware how many others were also in need. It has provided a platform to have the uncomfortable discussions around the history of the plant and to constantly learn.”
